What do I do ?

Last updated: 5-April-2009

My primary interest is to do structural studies on naturally deformed rocks. My research work therefore involves lots of FIELDWORK, mapping and sampling followed by laboratory studies.

In the laboratory, I take a look at the MICROSTRUCTURES to decipher deformation mechanisms and kinematics.

My research further involves ANISOTROPY OF MAGNETIC SUSCEPTIBILITY (AMS) studies of deformed rocks. The AMS data helps in analysing strain and evaluation of deformation events.

STUDENTS IN THE FIELD

It appears they enjoy Fieldwork !

Taking a break from work

Work and Enjoy

My students sweat it out in the field with a smile. But where is the teacher?.....I am taking a break!

My Present Interests

  1. Quantification of microstructures in naturally deformed rocks using fractal geometry techniques.
  2. Analysis of deformation fabric in plutonic rocks (Singhbhum Granite) by integrating field, microstructural and magnetic data.
  3. Shear bands in clay, present-day movements and AMS.
